The important part of the draft process no one talks about...

On an NFL Network conference call today, former Redskins and Texans GM Charlie Casserly was talking about whether there was a lot of disagreement in the draft room in the early rounds. In his experience, no, he said. Ex-Ravens head coach Brian Billick had similar sentiments. But that wasn't the most interesting part of Casserly's answer. Talking about what happens when a team is on the clock, Casserly said this:

“You want to get player on the phone to make sure he’s in one piece.”

Makes sense. You're going to make a multi-million dollar investment. Time to touch base with that prospect, I'd say.
