Chiefs-Panthers: Don't forget about DeAngelo Williams

I knew people were ready to cast aside Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams too soon in favor of rookie Jonathan Stewart. I have talked to enough people in Carolina who have said how much the team likes Williams and think he's going to be a big-play guy for this team all season.

It appears they were waiting for a game like today where Williams has busted out with 79 yards on his first eight touches and a pair of touchdowns. Stewart, meanwhile, has a red-zone fumble today. Both guys are a big part of what the Panthers do offensively, but this appears too be Williams' day.

POSTSCRIPT: Typically what happens when I write these game-day blogs, as soon as I hit "save" something happens on the field that undercuts what I just wrote within four real-time minutes. This time, I got lucky. Williams just ripped off a 32-yard TD on a draw play on 3rd and 8. The Chiefs, before their final drive of the half, had 29 yards of offense to Carolina's 291 yards. Youch.
