I vowed to keep "Around the NFL" mostly clear of Brett-related material, but I wanted to jump in with the latest.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network just reported that Brett Favre has told agent Bus Cook that he is planning on playing this season. OK, that we thought we knew, but it appears solid now. And we could be close to closing the door once and for all for Favre playing in Green Bay.
Part two, it appears that the Bucs remain in play, as they are willing to talk to the Packers regarding a possible trade. The Vikings are not a very likely situation, it appears.
You know who we haven't heard from? Bucs fans. Do you want this guy? Do you want Jeff Garcia? Do you think you can handle the Favre attention? Let's get someone new in on this shenanigan.

Where is Mr. Wilf? He is supposed to be talking to the Packers!!! I want Favre here in Mankato tomorrow. If the Bucs get him before we do, I will request tampering charges!

Bucs are happy with garcia, but as a fan, would love to see favre in a buc uniform. It also opens several trade possiblities for chris simms, brian griese and possibly jeff garcia, im excited about the prospect

I would love to have Brett Favre in a Buccaneers uniform. I just can't have enough quarterbacks. It will take about 2 weeks to get Farve accustomed to my playbook. Jeff Garcia and Brett could alternate series. Or I'm gonna put an octagon ring on the 50 yard line and may the best 38 year old win.

Bucs fans love Jeff Garcia, but he`s sick of Jon Gruden`s ego and lack of respect for his abilities. I, personally, would love for the Bucs to get Brett because it would allow a stand-up guy like Jeff to go elsewhere where he would be happier and more appreciated. Brett and Gruden deserve eachother, while Jeff shouldn`t be caught in the middle of this flirt-fest. Make the deal and let Jeff go...

Just a thought...seeing how they traded for "retired" Jake Plummer and ended up recouping Bonus money paid to him by the Broncos - whats to stop crafty GM Allen from aquiring Favre - and trading to Minnesota for much more than TB pays GB?

Robert, if Favre is traded the Packers will have a clause that the compensation changes if he ends up playing in Minnesota, not unlike the escalator clauses some teams have. That is, instead of a clause saying the Bucs owe the Packers a higher draft pick if Favre starts all 16 games, there will be a clause stating the Packers get several first round picks if Favre starts any games for Minnesota.
