Packers' interest in Jason Taylor not shocking

Although there is a better chance of Jason Taylor playing his ball in Miami now than there was a month ago, the Packers are smart to check on Taylor's availability. GM Ted Thompson has been fairly smart with his draft picks and almost certainly won't give up a first-rounder for Taylor; he might not even want to part with a two. Heck, he wouldn't give up a third-rounder for Randy Moss.

But Cullen Jenkins struggled most of last season and might be a better option as a third end and as a nickel rusher from the inside. Taylor would give the team a fine pair of pass-rushing and pursuing ends along with Aaron Kampman. That's the key -- both men play incredibly hard and defend the run well, too.

It's just speculation, but I don't think this deal will happen. But I can see why the Packers would investigate it. Bob Sanders saw up close (as the Dolphins' LB coach) how good Taylor can be, so you know he'd welcome the addition.
