Read that headline with your best Hawk Harrelson voice. Chicago people know what I am talking about.
Chris Henry is no longer a Bengal. The team cut him today. Here's the team's announcement ...
The Bengals today waived WR Chris Henry. Bengals president Mike Brown issued the following statement:
“Chris Henry has forfeited his opportunity to pursue a career with the Bengals. His conduct can no longer be tolerated.
“The Bengals tried for an extended period of time to support Chris and his potentially bright career. We had hoped to guide him toward an appropriate standard of personal responsibility that this community would support and that would allow him to play in the NFL. We acknowledge those fans who had concerns about Chris; at the same time we tried to help a young man.
“But those efforts end today, as we move on with what is best for our team.”
My last take: Love the choice of words ... "forfeit."

Hi Eric,
I have been waiting for this shoe to drop since I first heard about this yesterday. I too, had to laugh at the "forfeited" comment. He may well have "forfeited" his career as well, as it would be an absolute sucker bet that the next thing he'll get will be a year-long suspension from Roger Goodell, which it is unlikely he will ever return from. Something really bad is going to happen with him during that year, & he will then literally be sent away for what would've been the span of his career. Why do I say that? Because, just like Pac-Man Jones, Henry has repeatedly shown that he just does not get it. I'm highly amused at the various media people who want to "spin" Pac Man's comments on Michael Irvin's radio show last week into a sign of contrition, that he finally "gets it." I did not hear any of that. I heard a recalcitrant child whining when he said "going to a strip club isn't a sin." Well, Pac-Man, I'm not going to be the one who says it is, but speaking for my own faith, it wouldn't be looked upon as an act of good Christian behavior. But that's irrelevant, Eric. What is relevant is that he cannot go to a strip club without causing or getting into trouble. He also proves he doesn't get it by refusing to swear off going to them completely. Pac-Man may or may not be reinstated by Commissioner Goodell, but I would take the bet that he will run afoul again, & probably be suspended for good. It sort of makes me wonder, Eric, particularly that some of the "hangers-on" that end up causing him trouble are supposedly family, what will Darren McFadden's fate become? For my part, I have question enough about his fumbling & the fact that I have seen how his legs stop churning on contact to say that if it were me, I would take Jonathan Stewart over him with no hesitation, just on skills comparison alone. Add in his character concerns & were I an NFL General Manager, I wouldn't touch him.
Thanks for yet another great & thoughtful column, Eric!

To hear Chad Johnson's response on ESPN radio was hilarious. They broke it to him on air. In an upcoming season in which Johnson hints that his play will speak for his pitiful contract, he has no leverage now for a trade. You are stuck Chad Johnson. It seems familial traits do exist. Sounds a bit like Keyshawn. Alright Chad, have a lackluster season or two somewhere else, then hook up with a biannual loser like your stupid cousin. Rich Idiotman. What a douchebag. I am not even a Bengals fan, and I would punch you in your stupid face. Retard.
