I think it should be noted that the Redskins showed great restraint in moving down -- in a complex deal -- and not just taking the highest guy on their board. This is uncharted water of sorts, moving down from their first-round choice and now sitting back with a bevy of picks that can help the depth on this talented but thin roster. I really was concerned about how deep this team is, but I think there is the chance to improve that significantly.
Kudos to Daniel Snyder, Vinny Cerrato and Jim Zorn for making a potentially unpopular but possibly fruitful move.
The Redskins previously had either been quiet on Draft Day or they had traded up for players (Jasn Campbell, Chris Cooley). Now, they turn the tables by dropping back and adding picks, and they have the extra third-round compensatory pick that could net a good football player. And all this has happened in an offseason in which they barely made a ripple in free agency. I like the new Redskins. I think this will be a good weekend for them in the long run.
