Crumpler, Muhammad could be Panthers

It might take a week with the Panthers and every other team heading to Indy for the Combine, but you might see two familiar NFC South players end up playing for the Carolina Panthers.

TE Alge Crumpler, who played nearby in college and who reportedly has wanted to play for the Panthers, could get his wish. The team needs a tight end, and he might come more cheaply than he would. There are medical concerns, sure, but Crumpler should pass a physical and might be an attractive signing for 3-4 years.

Likewise, Muhsin Muhammad, who was just cut by the Bears, might end up back in Charlotte. He was a very popular figure for the Panthers and the team needs help at receiver. Drew Carter and Keary Colbert are free agents, and Dwayne Jarrett can't be counted on next season. You know Steve Smith will be putting in a good word for his buddy to return. And remember, it was during the Combine that the Bears signed Moose a few years ago ... might we see him return to Charlotte during the same week? We'll see.
