One of many Senior Bowl leftovers: This Choice would make a fine pick

Just a note here: I have a lot of stuff in the form of Q&A I will litter the blog with that I just haven't gotten around to transcribing. As you can imagine, it's a bit of a crazy week here with this Super Bowl thing going on. But I also get the idea that a lot of you are here to read about the draft. And I am here to help.

One guy who was easy to like a lot by week's end was Georgia Tech RB Tashard Choice, who had a nice week of practice and appeared to improve his stock. But the most excited I saw him get was when I asked him about this YouTube performance:

(I tried to embed the video but had issues. Sorry.)

Do yourself a favor and spend a minute and 42 seconds watching this.

Here's what he told me when I asked him about it:

Georgia Tech RB Tashard ChoiceQ: So you are an Internet sensation now, eh?

A: Man! They put that thing on there and I had to watch it. I had no idea what people were talking about at first.

Q: Who did you hear from after it went up?

A: I was hearing from guys from high school. I got a lot of text (messages). Guys were saying, 'Man, we saw what you said,' and I was like, 'Man, what are you talking about?' When they said it was the Clemson speech, I had to go back. 'What did I say?'

Q: So you didn't remember what you said?

A: I knew what I said, but I didn't remember the whole thing exactly. My head coach from high school texted me and called me and said, 'You had me ready to put my cleats on.'

Q: That's what one of our editors (Billy Wellner) said. He wanted to do pushups afterwards.

A: Ha, yeah! I was just talking from the heart there.

Q: How do you show leadership skills in a setting like the Senior Bowl?

A: Have fun. That's big. Have fun. Talk to the different players. If you can show them you are competitive and responsive, they'll see it. Things will take care of themselves.

Q: What's the biggest thing the coaches stressed here?

A: Finish. Finish the play. Lock up, finish. Run up and down the field, even after the play. Learn how to have good habits in practice, and it will carry over into football games.

Q: is there one skill you came here to improve on?

A: Catching the ball. Breaking tackles. Those are the big ones.

Q: You weren't used in the passing game a ton at Tech, right?

A: I caught the ball, but not a lot. Not as much (as at the Senior Bowl). They got us involved more in the passing game here. Just getting to catch the ball more often helps with your reps.

Q: How have you done in pass blocking so far?

A: We did a little of it (in practice). It was more working with technique. I think it has gone well.

Choice said he'll be training out at API in Arizona leading up to and after the Combine in Indianapolis. Some team is going to get a winner with this kid.

Mark:

Eric,

Why won't you do what Greg Easterbrook of ESPN and the Brookings Institution and question what was on the videotape confiscated by the NFL. The NFL hasn't told us nor have the Pats. Nor do we know if the Pats recopied the tapes that the NFL asked them to confiscate. Why as an NFL beat writer are you unwilling to ask these serious questions.

I am glad one writer is willing to question. Why wont you?
